The Could In My Tea

By Chris Davis © 2025

I wake up
Put a smile on my face
It’s a new day
There’s blue skies
Clouds are floating by
And drift away
Those clouds will fall as rain
And I will see them again

(Chorus)

When I smile to
The cloud in my tea
It smiles at me
The sunshine
The earth and the sky
Are in my tea
Smiling back at me
Smiling back at me

My dear friend
You put a smile on my face
Everyday
One day
We will go separate ways
But that’s ok
Like clouds will turn to rain
I know I’ll see you again

(Chorus)

Song Inspiration

I was inspired to write this song while looking at this calligraphy hanging in my kitchen. When I drink mindfully, I think about how this tea was once a cloud in the sky that fell as rain, how the tea leaves grew in the ground, and all the processes and people who had a hand at getting this into my cup. It makes me feel connected to the earth and human beings. It makes me grateful.
