Song Inspiration
I had read Thich Nhat Hanh’s “Story of a River” and it touched me deeply. The imagery in Thay’s words brought deep insight, so applicable to my life, which inspired me to write my very first song for this album. At that time I did not know this would be the catalyst for more songs.
This is also one of the few songs some people have already heard as I have played it for my sangha, The Cahaba River Sangha. Also, my dharma sharing group at the Sound Of Zen retreat at Magnolia Grove Monastery performed it on the last night for the Be-In (talent show). It was my first time to play and sing in front of a group of people in almost 20 years. To hear everyone singing the echo parts warmed my heart.
